JAGUARS....

THE JAGUAR IS THE LARGEST OF BIG CATS IN THE 2 AMERICAS, FROM THE SOUTHERN U.S. TO THE RAIN FORESTS IN SOUTH AMERICA. INCLUDING THE TAIL IT CAN GROW TO BE 8.58 FEET LONG AND STANDS AT LEAST 3 FEET AT THE SHOULDER.

THE FUR COAT VARIES FROM A LIGHT YELLOW, RUSTY RED AND AN OCCASIONAL BLACK WITH BLACK RING LIKE SPOTS. ALL JAGUARS HAVE RINGED SPOTS. THOUGH YOU CAN'T SEE THE SPOTS ON THE BLACK JAGUAR, IT DOSE HAVE THEM.

THE BLACK JAGUAR IS MORE COMMON THAN IT'S COUSIN THE LEOPARD. BOTH ARE BORN MUCH LIKE THE WHITE BENGAL TIGER WITH A GENE THAT TURNS THEIR FUR BLACK INSTEAD OF WHITE, BUT BOTH THE BLACK JAGUAR AND LEOPARD ARE NOT AS RARE AS THE WHITE BENGAL TIGER.

THE JAGUAR, LIKE THE TIGER, LIKES THE WATER AND IS AN EXCELLENT SWIMMER. THEY MAKE THEIR DIETS ON AQUATIC ANIMALS SUCH AS FISH AND BIG FROGS, TO LAND ANIMALS SUCH AS BIRDS AND HOOFED ANIMALS OR ANYTHING THE SIZE OF ONE.

THESE CATS SEEM TO MATE IN ANY SEASON THEY CHOOSE. AFTER 94 TO 105 DAYS, THE FEMALE WOULD BE READY TO GIVE BIRTH TO A LITTER OF 1 TO 4 CUBS. THEY WILL STAY WITH THEIR MOTHER FOR 2 YEARS AND THEN MOVE ON ALONE.
